Unexpected Incident on Vegas Flight 3343…Love Is In The Air

March 24, 2008

Southwest Airplane

It seemed like a normal day at the Little Rock National Airport. Hundreds of airport and airline employees showed up to work, traffic wasn’t that bad, and even the parking lot was rather calm. The security checkpoints were business as usual in this post 9/11 era of heightened security. Everything seemed perfect on this calm and serene day, there wasn’t even a cloud in the sky.

Finally something happened. While in mid flight, the Southwest Airlines flight 3343 that flies direct from Little Rock to Las Vegas the unexpected happened . The moment came when the captain announced in a business as usual fashion, “Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking.”

But what he said next made everyone cry tears of joy.

The Captain read this most intimate yet public message to the entire cabin that was filled with more than one hundred people and everyone gasped as the romantic ending was read Ben opened the wood box in hand. He (captain) announced, “ I bought you this trip to Vegas to let you know how much you mean to me, as hard as you work you deserve it. I also decided to surprise you with this 3.00 carat diamond ring, Happy 10th Anniversary. I’ll love you forever, Ben.”

Stephanie, Ben’s wife was in tears and there was not a dry eye in the cabin. She grabbed the ring slipped it on her finger (a perfect fit) and everyone on the plane applauded very loud.

To top things off the moment was captured on video and can be seen on the Jones & Son website www.jonesandson.com starting on March 23rd, 2008, capturing the unexpected incident that Ben and Stephanie Evans shared on Vegas flight 3343, forever.

Gelin & Abaci Tension Settings Available at Jones and Son Little Rock, Arkansas

February 29, 2008

Gelin & Abaci

A Gelin & Abaci tension setting is truly one of the single most attractive ways to display a fine diamond as it allows more light to refract and reflect through it. The entire premise of each tension set ring is that it is one of a kind custom made for a specific stone size and finger size, and is available in 14kt, 18kt and Platinum.

The ultra-intense pressure of the setting holds your diamond on either side, allowing a full side profile view of the center stone.  There is no other type of setting which will allow this much of the center stone to be seen.  The tension ring is certainly in a league of its own. Up to 95 pounds of pressure are applied to the diamond, securing it into place. This patented process, ensures the metal retains its metal memory in maintaining the constant pressure and lasts a lifetime.Gelin & Abaci tension settings are available exclusively at Jones and Son Diamond and Bridal Fine Jewelry. www.jonesandson.com Or watch the cool commercial on YouTube.

The Soldiers Valentines Surprise!

February 15, 2008

Becca Mitchell Shows Off the Ring!

This was inspired by Major Shane Mitchell who is stationed in the 39th Infantry at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, and by the way he is on his way to Iraq. He wanted to really WOW his wife of 18 years this Valentines Day. However, he was unable to be with her to do anything special. He asked his mother what he should do and she suggested a local Little Rock, Arkansas jeweler Jones and Son Diamond and Bridal Fine Jewelry. She told Jones and Son that her son wanted to buy a diamond for his wife for Valentines Day and wanted to really make her day. That’s where she met Jones. Jones assisted Major Mitchell in selecting a perfectly cut 1 Carat Princess Cut Diamond set in white gold.

Then came the question Jones asked Major Mitchell, “How are you going to give it to her.” The two put their heads together and came up with a way for Mitchell to see her reaction. Together they came up with a way for Mitchell to see her reaction while not being there, so they can share in the moment together while apart. So Mitchell wrote a message and bought her Godiva chocolate to accompany the 1 Carat Diamond and he asked Jones to present it to her. Jones came up with the idea to add it to his family’s jewelry store website www.jonesandson.com on the homepage for Mitchell as well as his friends and family to all share in the moment together.

Mitchell said, “It’s something she’ll remember forever and that is important to me.”Major Mitchell’s mother called up the principle of Villonia Elementary the school where Mitchell’s wife, Becca Mitchell works and he allowed Jones to show up with the diamond, the chocolate, and the message with a video camera to film the event and capture the moment forever for the entire Mitchell family.

Jones hid in a closet at the library of the elemtary school where Becca teaches and when she came in with her class walked out and presented her with the ring. Her reaction was tears of suprise and joy and it was a moment that she will remember forever. Read more @ www.jonesandson.com

The Four C’s Overview

Even if you have never bought a diamond before, chances are you have heard of the “Four C’s.:” Cut, color, clarity, and carat weight are the four main identifiers of any diamond, and should be where your attention is focused when making a purchase. Understanding these four keys unlocks greater understanding of a diamonds value.

Listed next are the “Four C’s”, what they mean and why they are important. Each of these factors should be taken into account when buying a loose or mounted diamond. They are not necessarily They are not necessarily given in any order of importance, as this is up to the particular tastes of the individual. They are, however, given in order of noticeability.

Cut:  Cut is the first thing one sees when examining a diamond.  It is simply the specific proportions to which a diamond is crafted by a skilled artisan. Although it is the only “C” completely controlled by man, cut is the main factor that contributes to a diamonds brilliance.

Color:  After cut color is the second most noticeable attribute of a diamond. Generally, the less color a diamond has, the more precious it is. Specimens with too much color tend to look dull and those at the end of the color scale are completely lackluster.

Clarity:  A diamond’s clarity is also referred to as “natures fingerprint” , and is judged by the number of external and internal irregularities and  flaws.  These marks are called blemishes or inclusions respectively, and can be viewed with a 10x loupe. Smaller characteristics generally have little effect on a diamond.

Carat Weight:  The fourth, and final, “C” is not a factor in a diamond’s brilliance, but has direct influence on its cost. Carat (ct.) weight simply refers to the actual weight (not size) of a given specimen.
